It's Tuesday now and I'm carrying on from Sunday's blog ! It has been very hot and even worse, humid over the last few days, much too hot to sit in at the computer which is in a west facing room, getting sunlight all afternoon and evening. There have been times when I thought I would melt into a puddle of fat - what a nasty thought As there wasn't a breeze having all the windows and doors open wasn't much of a help. The government issued a warning to old and frail people that they should stay indoors and rest, drinking plenty of water at all times. Now I don't very often heed what the government says but I took their precautions to heart and lazed around - well, what better excuse could I have ?The temperature in here in 26o at the present at it's 8.15  in the evening with the windows wide open. This time last week we were complaining about the cold wind- are we never satisfied ? I hope that my readers have lovely sunny days with cool breeze.
Sunday. It's very hot today, much too hot to be out doors. We had days of lovely sunny weather with a cooling breeze last week but that has changed now and the humidity is very high. Last Sunday I was really cold when I stood in the church porch ( I am a welcomer and give out the newsheets.) I have a busy week with meetings on Monday and Wednesday, the " oldies group on Tuesday then
going to Liverpool on Thursday morning, shopping will be done on Wednesday - hopefully. I bought a new microwave last week which is considerably smaller than the old one which pleases me as I don't like a lot of clutter on the worktops.
Armed Forces Day

Union Flag
We as a nation do not make a great show of our patriotism as most of you know but yesterday was the Armed Forces Day ever held here. The actual idea happened because some louts - for want of a better and stronger word beat up some soldiers whilst they were wearing their uniforms in a garrison town. Every one was appalled by this and a newspaper suggested that it was about time we Brits showed our support for the armed forces in a more tangible way hence Armed Forces Day. It was a huge event in many parts of the country with marches, brass bands, memorial services and great crowds of spectators. November 11th is the day when we remember those who died during all the wars and that is held in all towns, cities and villages but we have never before " celebrated " our service men who are still engaged in conflicts so this will become an annual event. I, for one, was against the so-called " war " in Iraq as I didn't believe all that the government were telling us and I felt that not enough thought ha been put into what would happen when the fighting was over. Despite those reservations I am very proud of our armed forces and the way they have behaved in Iraq and  Afghanistan.

Armed Forces Day sounds like a great idea. This week it has been reasonably pleasant, almost cool after several days of very humid hot weather. RYC 47 years compared to our 45 years of marriage...it all passes so quickly doesn't it? Fritz and I are acutely aware of how precious it is to have one another. While raising our children and being so very busy for years we often forgot  how precious time is.

If you keep up on the news here in the USA you know we are facing much government take over and control. Now medical care is discussed and pushed to be under the government directive. I for one wish for the government to just leave us alone.

As I get older it is day to day and all the wars and stupidness are filed in part of my head where it will not affect the life I shall live for those of my loved ones that are left

It has been very warm here too but bring so near mountains and the coast it hasn't seemed humid at all. Mind you I have hardly left the house recently as i have an ear infection laying me low. :(
I agree with you about Armed Forces Day, though sadly over here that kind of thing can be used to score political points.

So it has been a rather hot warm day in the UK, sounds like the weather I experienced in Shanghai where its so hot and humid and no breeze at all. When Anna told me via chat this morning, I couldn't believe it. Let's hope some breeze will be blessed on the UK soon...its not a nice weather without the breeze I must say.

Thanks for Sharing!

Since people in the military must go wherever their country sends them, I think it is only right that they be honored for their service.  Armed Forces Day is an excellent idea.

I hope your weather quickly turns a bit cooler.  W have had two miserable weeks of weather in the 90's with enough humidity to push the heat index to around 100.  We are finally having milder weather in the 80's without the high humidity.  In fact todayit is supposed to stay in the upper 70's .  Time for work in the yard!  Thank heavens we have air conditioning.  I really don't know how people stood it with air conditioning in the southern states.  The humidity makes it just unbearble.

You are experiencing some rather hot weather! Somthing we get most of the time during summer down in this neck of the woods.

It really angers me when I hear of any members of the armed forces being attacked like that! There should be more patriotism shown towards soldiers/armed forces. Those that perpetrate those attacks should be thoroughly ashamed.

Fancy hot in England if it had done that when I was there no need for me to have emigrated now we seem to be getting more English weather well this winter anyway Good for you smoking I dont mind but cant stand the smell now and most of my visitors never smole those that do just pop out onto front verandah but it is a bit cold at moment so Angela pops up the shed and sits on a garden chair my Green stuff over my pergola has been half ripped off by the winds I am waiting for any man to come to rip it all off as my plants will soon go over the wooden structure it was here when we moved in but I think it makes the back too dark. Not a lot of mews myself except woory about going to hospital Tuesday with Ang and the getting there by Taxi. Have fun while you can do what you want not what other people want that is my late motto these days Love marj{

If you had been with us in Perigord it was 35 °C and even 40 under the sun . We survived . It was hot but not humid .
Coming back in Picardy we find again our dull weather , no sun and no rain , neither warm nor cold .
The weather didn' t bother you to have many activities .
You ask about the walnut wine in Perigord . here is a link : http://www.slowtrav.com/france/notes/mellen_walnut_wine.htm .
Julie told me the man who won the first race of the Tour de France was from the Isle of Man ! WOW !

How refreshing it is to find someone who does not believe everything the Government would have us believe. We certainly have that in common. Certainly in the West Midlands it has cooled down a lot now. Thanks for your visit to my site. Michel if you read this thanks for your recommendation.~ Tim
