Typical of my luck - after a lot of messing about and help from my neighbour the new patio set was set up last Monday. Tuesday was glorious but I was out with the " oldies " at the bingo. Since then we have had rain and cool winds so I haven't yet enjoyed the set.

The pink flowers that are showing are geraniums that Frank planted years ago, now they are like weeds growing in very nook and cranny. Pretty they might be but they are a nuisance. Another plant Frank put in is Lady's Mantle or alchemilla mollis which is fighting the geraniums for any available space. I think the geraniums will win !

It is surprisingly comfortable and best of all it can be left out in the rain as it dries very quickly In the winter the chairs can be folded up and put away - another bonus Perhaps during this coming week I will get the chance to sit out and relax.
Another calamity happened- my microwave broke, now I don't use it very often but I do find it useful and wouldn't be without one. The good thing is that I can now buy a much smaller compact one that won't take up so much space. I am debating whether to buy a new cooker or get some one in to clean the old one because when the kitchen is painted I want everything to look grand spanking sparkling. Any ideas as to what I should do ? I have chosen magnolia paint for the kitchen/diner ( yes, I know BORING ) with a light minty green ( Pinefrost ) for the cupboards and for the lounge I'm having Welsh Flint- a sort of pale tan as it matches my furniture, curtains and carpet. Although I'm not looking forward to the upheaval I know that I will be very happy when it's done.
Taxes
The hardest thing in the world to understand is the income tax. Albert Einstein
Income tax returns are the most imaginative fiction to be written today. Herman Wouk
The avoidance of taxes is the only intellectual pursuit that carries any reward. John Maynard Keynes
When there is an income tax the just man will pay more and the unjust less on the same amount of income. Plato
I was surprised to find that income tax existed in Plato's time

I spoke of Revolution in my last comment . This time the revolutuion id made . Your pation set is practical and with and elegant touch . Unfortunatly the weather is not so good to relax a long time outside .
Now a new enterprise is announced : buying a cooker , a microwave and new colors in the kitchen- dining room .  A suggestion : take  photos before and after
Go ahead , Marie !
Love
Michel

Um...is a cooker the same thing as a stove?  If you can swing it, maybe you would like a new one better.  I know I would!  When things are painted and spruced up, the old begins to look shabbier.  Still, maybe a good cleaning would do the job!

Are the pink flowers a creeping geranium?  We have some of those and they are indestrictible.  I have cut back, pulled up,and tried everything to get rid of the ones in my front bed, and all I have managed to do is to slow them down.   I don't mind a clump or two, but they don't like to share space with anything!  Husby and I have really tried to stay on top of them this year, so we'll see.

The patio set looks cute and practical!  Do you have an umbrella for it, too?  We have one for our set on the deck, but we have to keep taking it out because of winds, which is a pain.

Your place is going to look fabulous!

Hello and good morning from Iowa! I have been catching up with your site. Sounds like much is going on.  I love your patio set. Looks like a grand place to eat breakfast or would Bonnie and Clyde bother you too much as you tried to eat? My 3 cats would make their presence known but one is too fat to jump on the table.

I have had work done to our jolly little cottage and certainly disliked the mess but like you say it is worth it once it is over. All my walls are white.....I call it "no-decision white". Even then there are many differences in white as I have sadly found when I attempted to do some touching up.

My son surprised me when he arrived at the family reunion after his wife assured me they could not make it....what a wonderful surprise and she was so happy she tricked me. A delightful surprise indeed.

I have copied your happiness quotes and entered them in my journal. It is very hot here and we are running the a/c full blast. Very humid also. Hope you have a nice day today.

That is a lovely patio set and so practical.  We too have had much rain. Last weel we gpt 6 inches of ran, and yesterday we got one inch.  Combined with heat and humidity, it has not been comfortable.

I think you have picked great colors for your house.  I am sure it will be lovely when it is done.  In this house the microwave is above the cooker. It is both a microwave and an exhaust fan.  I find that to be very useful and spacesaving.  As for your cooker, I think your decision should be based on the current cooker's age and features.  New ones have wonderful features  Mine is electric and has a glass flat top which is so easy to clean.  The oven is self cleaning, a chore I have gladly given up!  The oven has a special rack that is devided in half.  If you have a number of things to put in the oven, for a holiday meal for example, and one of then is tall like a turkey, you can remove one half of the rack to make space for the tall food item, while still having a half rack for something else like rolls or a pudding.  I have been a bit overwhelmed by it, but I am getting on with it quite wellnow.

As ever, Carol

Oh, Marie, when I read your quotes on taxes I thought you must have read my mind!! I blogged about taxes today!

I think you should get a new cooker. As for microwaves, you will find they are much cheaper than when you last bought one. One of the few things that have gotten cheaper. Your colours sound delightful and I wish I could come visit and see them!!

Good Morning my Friend.  It's almost 7 AM here I believe.  I love your patio set, I have a small one which I enjoy very much, I cover the table for winter, fold and store the chairs inside.  I love my yard swing the most though.  Matthew the fish died, I bought a new one but he also died so now I have 2 small fish they seem to be healthy.  Angel my cat was killed by one of the wild animals that roam about at night, I blame myself for not putting her inside at night, she loved being outside and it was always a struggle getting her inside but I should have known better than to leave her out.  I am ordering my internet dish not sure when it will be installed not soon enough for me of that I am sure.  Love Shirley

They say we are in for a Heatwave and that they have issued a warning about the heat to come. I think that the storms will miss the North West this weekend, we may get them next weekend.
Sounds like you are going to have a great kitchen. If you do go and buy some new equipment, you'll know from my experience to avoid Currys.
